“And you were telling Pallan about his wife, Avalla?” Jack was directing his question at his 2IC as they were in the common area of the changing room getting ready to go into the post mission briefing with General Hammond.

“Yes, sir,” Sam's face held a gentle look, “he seemed genuinely unhappy to not be able to remember someone he loved and wasn't able to mourn losing her because of that.”

“That was extremely kind of you, MajorCarter,” Teal'c gave her a small nod of his head in acknowledgement.

“What he said,” Jack smiled at her.

“Thanks,” her face held a bright glow of pleasure at having done something good for someone else. Then she glanced at her watch. “I've got a few things for my report to pick up at my office. I'll meet you in the briefing room.”

“I will accompany you, MajorCarter,” Teal'c fell into step with the woman has she exited the locker room.

That left behind the two remaining members of SG-1.

“Daniel?” It worried Jack that this other member of his team had been so silent since they had come back from their final trip to the planet.

“Jack,” there was a pensive note in Daniel's response.

“You've been too quiet. Got something on your mind Daniel?” Jack got right to the point of concern.

Daniel Jackson focused intently on tying his boots as he spoke. “Back there on the planet, I know I wasn't as focused as I should be and I didn't speak up like I should.”

“You did leave Sam to take the lead a lot,” Jack's tone wasn't accusatory just pointing out what he had noticed.

Daniel sighed, head still bent and focused on his boots as if they held answers. “It's just that when we realized that the computer was altering their memories, wiping out events and people in their lives…”

“It reminded you of what Oma and the others did to you,” Jack finished for him.

Daniel's shoulders visibly trembled and a damp spot appeared on the cement floor between his boots as tear fell from his face. “They dumped me on some distant planet with no memory of who I was, what I had done, who I loved. I know it was probably done to keep me from getting into trouble, but god it was like…” his words trailed away.

Jack closed his locker and went over to sit down next to Daniel on the bench in the middle of the room. Jack made no move to touch the other man, just sat slightly hunched over, elbows on knees and hand clasped waiting for Daniel to continue when he was ready to.

Daniel gave a shuddery sigh. “I've got most of my memory back and I remember that I loved Sha're and…and losing her,” he glanced over at Jack for the first time since they had begun this conversation, “I just don't remember her loving me,” Blue eyes were filled with anguish at this.

Jack stared into those eyes for a moment then he gave a quirked smile. “I remember that first day on Abydos. I remember that there was this beautiful girl who couldn't take her eyes off you. Her name was Sha're..”

Daniel Jackson listened in rapt attention as his friend Jack O'Neill told him all about the day Daniel had met Sha're and it filled him with happiness and completeness he hadn't imagined could exist for him. Jack gave him what his own slowly recovering memories couldn't; the knowledge that he had been loved by someone as much as he had loved them. Jack had given him back Sha're's love for him.
